  • Unusual Charvel... help!

    Hi guys,

I found a gorgeous Charvel in a shop today. Only problem is, I can't seem to find out what model it is!

    Its characteristics are as follows:

    Single humbucker
    Maple neck
    Fire Red finish
    Black three-ply scratchplate
    Strat-style trem

    Its serial number is: 267581.

I've looked through all the old catalogues, but these were no help at all; the combination of scratchplate, neck and single pickup seems quite unusual.

Any idea what model this might be..?

    Dan

Specs sound like a Model 1A that someone swapped out the pickguard on.

      Brilliant - thankyou!

It's up for £300 - I'm assuming this is quite overpriced then...?

Also, will regular 'strat' scratchplates fit these guitars?

Way overpriced. Cut the price in half and it would be good deal.

As for the pickguard, a strat one will fit, but the screw holes might not line up.
I suspect the current pickguard is most likely going to have had new holes drilled into the body to make it fit.

Thanks guys! I have to say, I'm annoyed it's so overpriced as it's a really gorgeous guiter - plays like a dream as well!
