  • This is my guitar...

    Hi,

This is my Charvel '88, owned it since new. It's been through the wars a little, used as a guitar should be, so isn't by any means mint. But it's a great guitar and I'd never sell it.

The OEM trem (which I liked but was far too fragile) has been replaced recently with an Original Floyd Rose, and the humbucker was replaced some time ago with a Dimarzio Tone Zone. Makes a great noise. Just an awesome thing tbh...

Seen some other '88's on this site, all beauties all of 'em. But obviously mine is the best but I may be slightly biased...

      Thanks, Ben...

Although the photo doesn't show all the dings, dents, chips, breaks, cracks and chunks missing.
It does seem to show my greasy mitt prints though...

Welcome. That Charvel is awesome, man!
As far as I'm concerned he can stay with Dean and play his dots+fins KV copies, and whatever that aborted fetus he "designed". More like "I saw it in my puke". -Newc

            Excellent grain on that one!

The burst on mine is the best though.

If you only have one guitar, there's a good case for that ONE.

I think only 666 were ever made???

And out of rare African wood?

p.s. and a great amp too!

                1,000 made.
                500 US, 500 "Export".
                Made in Japan, o' course.

                African ribbon mahogany.
Not sure of the original price.

                  Thanks for the comments

Paid 500 finest english pounds for it, brand new. An absolute bargain imo.
I loved the style. Natural finish/single 'bucker/reverse headstock, really clean look.

And you can impale your singer with the headstock, which is always a good thing

Nice 88. You've had that guitar for 20 years! Looks like you have a D-Tuna on there, how do you like it? How have you blocked the Floyd for pull-up?

Yep, feel quite old now, cheers!

Not blocked the trem yet, just installed the Dtuna (it were shiny, and I didn't plan ahead...). Looking at it, I'll either drop a block of wood between the spring block on the trem and the body in the trem cavity (it's about a 10mm gap). Then add a spring or two, to increase the tension and make sure it's tight. Or I thought about using a screw, to replace the wood block, so I could adjust the positioning and easily reverse the mod.

I'm no guitar tech, if you hadn't guessed
