Charvel 550XL refinish

Hi,

I'd like to refinish this guitar. What's the best way to restore the headstock, with a vinyl logo or water slide decal? Anyone has experience with logo restoration?

Also: I'm planning on painting it all black, but if I could get an effect like fire crackle, I would try it. I'll do the paint job in a body shop, so I may have the equipment needed for it, but I'd like to know if someone knows how to get that finish?
