Ya... Agreed. They totally work for what i do. Not that I'm much of a fan of their singles. I have 81's in everything I play live with and disable the single coils haha...
I do like the SD Custom 5 tho.
Haven't found a Dimarzio I really like ever...
So... EMGs

I'm sort of in the same position...
This is the first chapter of my comparison between active EMGs and passive Seymour Duncans.------------------------------------------------------------------...
This guy has a lot of interesting videos, compares Floyds to Kahlers, metal guitar comparisons... hope this is helpful. My rig:

EMG NOT! If you like the way it sounds then just clean all your pots and change your battery. (which I am sure you have done) If that doesn't help stay passive and add a mid boost pre-amp. I can not suggest one but I am sure other can. I have one that the volume pot life is dying but I keep cleaning to keep it alive. I really like the way it sounds. I but a bunch of EMG in guitars a few years ago and it just wasn't for me. Includhing a Model 4.Just one more guitar!

well, i play everything from country to rock. and i dont think its my pots on the guitar that are the problem...even with a fresh battery, the mid boost kind of acts funny some times. and it is getting more common. i have been looking at emg's passives anybody play them?

I've got a dual EMG 81 setup with the 18v mod in a LTD KH-502. Blows the passives away. If you're thinking EMG go with actives [IMHO].Jon [HolyDiver], UK
