  • 650 Custom, pickup?

    Hi all.
newb here & trying to get my 650 custom back original. When I bought it, it didn't have any pickups & the trim was in pieces. I have two different J50BC pickups. Only one fits, but it isn't a covered pickup. All of the Charvel pics I've seen show with a covered pickup, but the covered pickup I have, is too big to fit in the rout & mounting ring holes don't match up. Did these come with a smaller covered pickup? No prob with the J200s.

If anyone has a 650, or knows what I need, it will be a BIG help.

    Thanks.

The prudes may snub them, but I don't care.
    I dont need furniture.
If its tough, shreds, and screams, Its all good.
If it gets jacked, I'll get another one.
    And rock that sucker.

    Hi there.

There were indeed two different sized of Jackson covered pickups. Smaller ones cames around 1990 I think. And if I recall correctly, some 650s (aswell as 475s for instance) came with larger pickup routes and some with smaller during the transition period.

You can take cover off from that big covered pickup and use it with the smaller pickup ring no problem .

Cool. Are the covers glued or do they snap on? Also, do you know if they stayed with J50BC till the end?

      Thanks.

They're glued on. And yes, 650s had J50BCs till the end (atleast according to the catalogs).

I think I'll use a Duncan JB until I find the right one.

          Thanks.
