Here's what it will pretty much look like from the front once it's finished.
The CS generator is unable to do the mini burst of black the will be around the edges of the front, but you can get the idea.

      Man,

I was looking at that initial picture and I was a little worried that the flake would have been too big. Man, that thing looks sweet. Every single time I see something that mike has done, I want to send him a guitar =)

Now I know I'm in trouble. I've been debating on a refinish for my thrasher model 6, that thing looks even better than I originally thought.

I know it's fresh out of the booth and not cleared or buffed out, but are those areas of orange peel or just reflections? The bottom of the white reflection on the top of the guitar and the whole area above the pickup cavity.

It's possible, but you would have to ask Mike.

Looks like some serious orange peel to me, I'm sure it will look great when done! But damn thats alot of color sanding and buffing! Maybe he just puts it on thick and fast because of the numbers he does, still seems like alot of work to finish it out?

None of it matters to me. The finished product is all I care about.
Mike has his process for painting guitars and we've all seen the final results of his work.
How he gets there is not really relevant.

I hear ya Rick. It's kind of funny that all the "critics" come out on a totally unfinished product.

IMHO anyone can tell by the pictures that the refinish is still in it's early stages, why critique something that isn't even close to done.

                        Tasteless boys, tasteless...

Mike painted a guitar for me and it turned out fantastic. As a matter of fact, the work (and the experience) was so good, I ordered a complete custom Learn guitar from him. This guitar (the 5A) will turn out sweet when it's done. Just wait and see.

Ha, when I first saw that pic last week I was gonna post a funny comment about fisheye and orange peel. Fully knowing that it was all part of the process and normal with all that flake and such. But I resisted the temptation figuring that it might get taken as an insult when none was meant. I guess I was right.

I've heard of the 'orange peel' effect but what's the fisheye?

Just like you, I know this happens when you paint with a shitload of flake.
Part of the reason I'm paying Mike to do it.
The only one they are insulting is Mike, and I'm pretty sure he couldn't care less about the comments.
