I see the peel but I am missing the fish eye. To me at least fish eye is where you can see pinholes (shaped like fish eyes) in the top coat and the base coat or primer is visible in the hole. That guitar will get color sanded, buffed, and the peel will be long gone. There is a lot of product used when doing flake. It is going to dry unevenly and you will get peel for that reason.

Fisheye is when the paint doesnt want to stick to whats under it so it avoids that area and creates a divot in the finish and raises the edged giving the appearance of a fishes eye. The paint doesnt want to stay on top of the big flakes so its kinda doing the same. We used to paint cars in my friends driveway during the summer and would run into this from time to time. Usually caused by moisture or grease on the prepped surface. But this is just the nature of using that big flake and will be beautiful when completed.Comment

Update time again...
Final clear coat and logo applied. Just needs to cure for a few days before it gets the final buff.
Should be in my hands later next week.

More than you can imagine Spike.
But good things come to those who wait. Mike wants the clear to sit for the rest of the week before he buffs it out.
He told me it was in the booth three times for the clear coat.
He said he'll ship it out Monday.
He's only one state away, so I should have it by Wednesday or Thursday next week.

HHEHE...The VW cries to me every day. I have only been collecting parts for her. In fact I have 2 66's and a 59.
There are no fish eyes on this, there is surface texture that is typical of Polyester, This isn't polyurethane that lays out nicely with the right reduction. This stuff goes on thick. You need at least a 1.7 to even get close to glossy. This is all blocked down, starting with 1000 going all the way to 3000 gt. Keep yer pants on fellas...

This was my last flake attempt and it turned out OK, but not great.
It was spotty in places and I had a burn through on the back while buffing it out. Talk about a bitch to fix. Had to re-shoot the whole damn thing.
My money was well spent with having Mike paint the 5A.
He has a gift.
