Pre '86 Model 2?

A local music store chain are currently describing a Charvel Model 2 and a Model 4 as being pre '86.

Is there anything to this or is it some kind of a misleading sales pitch.

Somewhere in Charvel land there is a Model 2 with a Kahler pro. I can't remeber if someone here owns it, but it has been discussed on this board before. At the time it was thought to be a prototype of what the Model 2 was going to be. That would be the only Model series guitar I would ever think was released pre 86.

It's just up the road so I'll take a look at it tomorrow anyway.

Yeah, if it makes the guy happy to believe this then dont argue the point with him, humor him. Now if he thinks that it somehow makes it more valuable then screw him, hes just a scammer. If you can get a good deal from him by yessing him to death, go for it.

It was a regular early Model 2 with a Kahler fulcrum tremolo.

The body and neck were in great shape, however, the tremolo was a mess with bent fine tuners and other issues and the lock on the headstock was not the correct type.

Later in the day I went to another shop and bought a '92 Hamer USA Diablo with ohsc for $100 more!

You scored on the Hamer. Nice! I am pretty sure I know of the guitars you mention. The descriptions and facts are always questionable because of inexperience or lack of knowledge involved with those selling the guitars. I see it all the time.
