  • "New" Charvel Strathead Pawn Shop Score!

Its been a happy birthday for me so far! I just walked into a pawn shop here and scored, what I believe to be, an 85ish model 2A strathead. I'll get some pics up when I go home. Pretty rough shape, but it came pretty cheap - pawn shop broke even on it, so I did pretty good (thanks to whoever posted the whole Mary Louise thing way back when).

Like I said, pics to come, but I'm a little puzzled on it. I don't know my Charvel models too well, so I'm pretty sure its a 2A, here are the specs

    22 fret strathead bolt on
    Rosewood w/ dots
    HSS
    1 vol 1 tone
old trem (i.e. not a floyd)
    black w/ pickguard
Backplate does not have an address - just says Charvel by Jackson/Charvel

    85-ish?

by the sounds of it you have a mutt, or at best a Model 1C with a different neck. These were never made with strat heads.

If it's the pseudo-strat headstock, it's possible that you have a CSM-2, made in the early 90s.

That's the one! Of course mine is covered in grime and such, but it'll be shiny soon enough.

So what model is that you posted? I looked through the catalogs and couldn't find it.

Thanks a bunch guys! I'm very surprised to hear that it is Korean, but it plays really nice.

                It's still not a "strathead".

The Toe-ster is right. It's commonly referred to as the pseudo-strat headstock. (some will even call it a "Sears" headstock)

Ah, I'd always heard both terms and never knew the difference. Now I do! Thanks again!

A little late, but here's the guitar and its friends, SD style 2 and an RR5. It looks like its in a little better shape than it is in the pics, definitely needs some work. Maybe convert it to a floyd, too....
