Replacement pick up advice

Hi Guys,

I am looking to drop a single-coil size hum/rails into the bridge position of my Black model 1a.

Perhaps a black JB Jnr? or some hot-rails variety? Not really familiar with the latter.

Help guys.

No clue, but you might want to mention what you want it to sound like if someone does have experience with these pickups.

I last used a Hot Rail bridge over 20 years ago. I can't remember what it sounded like.

The Hot rails bridge pup is essentially the duncan distortion in a single coil sized pup. The Jbjr is well just that a smaller JB altho due to its smaller sized coils it has a slightly differant tone. The lil59 is a great pup for a classic rock or vintage tone. Very PAf in tone but slightly hotter. At least the ones ive had were. All 3 sound great it all just depends on what kind of sound you want. There's also the Duckbucker, and the cool rails And the vintage rails. The vintage rails is similar to the lil59 but has bar magnets instead of the pole magnets.

so is a Hot Rails hotter than a JBJnr?? Would I a gross miss balance between these and the exisitng two pups?

The only single sized humbucker I have tried in the bridge(love the hot rails in the neck) is the tonezone s and I loved it.

The little 59 is a great pick up.One is not better than the other just depends on what YOU like.

I've had the JBjr and hotrails in the bridge and liked em both. What kind of music are you going to be playing. The lil 59 rocks too never had one but have played a guitar woth one and liked it.

because the model 1 is a basswood body, i'd go with the hotrails.

I've got a clear acrylic guitar with (from bridge to neck) a hotrail-coolrail-little 59 and its a very versatile machine. it also has coil taps on all 3 and i get a lot of tones out of it. the hotrail screams pretty good in the bridge, the l'il 59 cleans up nicely in the neck, and well i hardly ever go middle so can't tell you much about the coolrail

The JB and the Distortion are essentailly the same pup. Just a cermic magnet in the distortion vs the alnico in the JB. I can only guess the Hotrails and the JBjr are the same way. Aside from the obvious physical difference of the rails and the poles.
I've used the hotrails, the JBjr and the lil59. all sound great. ut just depends on what sound you want. The hotrails with its cermaic magnet will help ya cut through the warmth of the basswood a bit. The 59 may mellow it out too much. The JBjr is extremly versatile and cleans up better than the hotrails.
