I love my hardtail Kahler, and this has a lot of similarities to it. These Kahler jobs are really where the value is at. I'm surprised that the masses would pay significantly more for a JT6.

      Two reasons...

      1. Drop in Floyd
      2. Kahlers were not readily available for what seems like a long while

Honestly now that Kahlers and Kahler parts are fairly easy to find I could go either way. I really don't like the string lock but I do really like the bridge itself. Easy as pie to make a nice hardtail, too.

Hey Makeajazznoise, what Floyds specifically will drop into a Charvel Model 4 without routing the body...if any? Any info is appreciated as Im looking for a bridge/tremolo for my Model 4 but cant find a Kahler on ebay yet...at least one in my price range.

        Thanks!

How do you turn the old ones into a hardtail? I know the new ones have a hex screw you can tighten down for that purpose.

I meant, you buy the flat-mount bridge.

For a JT6-equipped guitar without a recessed tremolo route you should be able to use the Original Floyd Rose or the Schaller. For the recessed JT6 you have to use the Schaller because the string lock bolts will stick out too far.

If the guitar has a Kahler, you either have to route it or buy a Kahler.
