  • DK2M questions and other DK stuff

I played the DK2M in the store a few times and liked the neck. I wasn't keen on the twin humbuckers; I'd prefer either an additional single middle pickup or two singled and one humbucker. Are there any other Dinkys with the maple? Oh and does anyone know what the DK2M retails for in Canada? I want to find another dealer to compare the price for a new one.

I did play the DK2S I think it was, with that Sustainer "thing" but I didn't have enough time to really try it out. I also tried a DKMG or an DKXM (can't remember) but there was almost no sound coming out of it. Do the EMGs on these things need a battery?

What's the general consensus on the Jackson LFR on the Dinkys - pretty good?

    Thanks

I hooked up my accelerator pedal in my car to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

The DK2M is the only Dinky model (so far) with the maple fretboard.

And yes, most EMGs require batteries.

The trems on Jackson guitars are... decent.
I personally don't like the lo-pro style ones.
The bridges on the upgraded Pro Series have a hardened baseplate, and those will probably last longer than non-hardened bridges.

Most of the dinky's now have JT580LP's (like he said ^^^). I have one on my DKMG and Kelly and they both work great for me. The newer DKMG's have active (battery) EMG 81/85. Just say EMG (one silver, one gold). Older ones had EMG-HZ's that are passive (no battery).

And.. I don't know what a DKXM is...??? Did you mean DXMG? Basically the same thing but with a 3+3 headstock I think?

You can pick up a used DK2M in Victoria for $600. I just sold mine back to Long and Mcquade.

Sometimes the hz pickups are paired with a push-pull switch that activates a boost that requires a battery. So its possible that the guitar you played had hz's but the boost battery was dead. I think its the dkmg that has this setup.

Pretty much all jacksons have maple necks, the fretboard imo looks better than rosewood, ebony is also nice as on the slsmg's and sls-3's

I believe the dkmg's used to have a boost probably the emg afterburner 25db's of extra gain omg!!! I know a few ltd's had the hz/afterburner combo for a while too...

I do recall seeing a limited run of dk2m's with the H-S-S setup but the were all bengal blue I believe...

It would be possibly to get a Dk2 body and DK2M neck to get the H-S-S setup...

                        Blue Bengal DK2M HSS
a few others i'd rather not mention
Nigel Tufnel: (holding up a guitar) The sustain, listen to it.
Marty DiBergi: I don't hear anything.

Nigel Tufnel: Well you would though, if it were playing.
