  • Feedback on the PC3

Im doing some research into the Phil Collen signatures but the PC1 is a bit out of my price range so im looking at the import PC3. I quite like the look of the guitar ( fender style head etc) as its a little different as what Jackson are known for

Now i see there are big differences between the import PC3 and the USA PC1 in terms of hardware, trem, no sustainer etc. My only concern with the PC3 is the duncan designed PUPS. I have these in my DR-3 and they sound a little muddy and assume they are probably the same in the PC3 ??

Anyway without comparing it to the PC1 for obvious reasons what is the PC3 like , playability, feel, tone etc ? Also are PC3 still in production as i read somewhere they were only a short lived model??
I dont get scared but i do get shocked!!

The PC3 is a decent guitar, but it doesn't compare to a PC1 in anyway other then looking "similar".

It is closer in feel to a DK2.

The PC3 was discontinued in 2001.

for what it's worth, I have one of the earlier PC-3's with the Wilkinson trem, the p/u's were swapped out to Kent Armstrong ones before I got it

no compliaints, plays great. ticks my "need to get a strat" box.

I would have loved a PC1, but it was out of my price range too so I got an SL3. Love it. It's a bit different to a PC1 but similar enough looks wise that I was quite happy to go for it. Good pickups too, and neck through.
