  • RR24M only one pickup?

Is their a reason that the RR24M's are only one pickup? Is it because they aren't strong enough with neck pickup cutout, It seems I have seen one somewhere that is 2 hum setup with the 24 fret neck, whether it's a Stars or what have you, although I could be wrong. Personally I would think one with a set of double EMG's would be a good setup.
I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.

Being that the RR24M is an import guitar, this might indeed be the wrong section. I have seen a couple of 24 fret Rhoads' with 2 pickups aswell, I've seen a stars model, and a custom shop one, I think. So yeah, there's no technical problem with a 24 fret rhoads' having 2 pickups.

Some people I have talked with and have heard talk, say that you don't need the neck pickup, for metal. So, if your not going to use the neck pickup why even have one. And that's where the RR24 enters the scene.

Oh duh my bad I didn't know where they were made lol. I like 24 fret guitars not sure why I now only play rhythm but I don't care to much for active pups not my cup of tea. so a set of passives in a 24 fret rhoads would be nice.

If you need more than one pickup, you're doing it all wrong...

... I miss my one pickup guitar...

The RR24 is a singlehum guitar. It was introduced partially to combat the massive sales of those distorted Ripoffs made by ESPee after acquiring a certain high profile player, hence also the very popular Black/Yellow Bevels paint scheme.

The RR24M is a Maple boarded version of that guitar. As a result it also only carries one humbucker.

Structurally there is nothing in the world stopping somebody from routing one out for a second humbucker.

the RR24 (and RR24M) is aimed at a pretty specific audience.. thats why it only has the one hum..

Even if you only do the chun-chun-chun, chun-chun, chun-chun-chun, chun-chun its still good.

There was a maple neck 2hum white Rhoads a while back, with reversed headstock - Custom Shop of course. I'd probably have bought an RR24M if it had the same specs.

If there's crappy keyboards in it it'll be something Alexi Laiho plays on probably? That one?

Yeah it was mainly made to combat ESP after Alexi left Jackson for ESP. They are great guitars and definately better than the LTD Alexi's. As for the one hum I think everybody should own at least one, one hum guitar. They just look badass, although I prefer a neck pickup for leads. I have one, one hum guitar and it has a BKP Cold Sweat in it and it is quite versatile despite lacking a neck pickup. Not a Jackson though.
