Great score! I just picked up a Jackson Doug Aldrich Custom. Very similar to a Horus. Specs wise I think the aldrich is almost the same as your falcon with the 27 frets. The previous owner of my aldrich replaced the schallr with an ofr (not sure why), changed the bridge pickup to a suhr aldrich and stripped the body down and did a terrible respray. It's going to be my new project guitar. I'd love to do the syco finish but not too sure how it'll turn out with my noob paint skills. Probably just go for a simple solid respray possibly in light or dark blue or white. This is the first aldrich I've seen in Australia and I've never seen a falcon. I hope to get one though. Selling my Horus soon Enjoy mate. So jealous.

Really shit pics but yeah. Here's the DA custom with my new Charvel 650XL.

Needs a really good set up and a paintjob. Wonder if it'd look good with a natural finish. Really looks like it's been through hell and back. I've got uni exams so can't really do much right now. After exams I'll strip it down. I'm going to need to sand the back of the neck too. Few dents in it. The neck isn't thick like a Horus'. Thinner like a normal Jackson.

damn shame about that finish. Still, it's a cool project.

hey, is your 650 dark metallic green? I have a 550XL in the same colour

The neck on my Falcon is pure Jackson, also. Maybe just a hair thicker than my Fusion Pro neck, but not much.

What a shame how that DA has been treated. I'll be interested to see what you do with it.

I'm not sure what the colour of my 650XL is. I know that 650XLs were made in the colour "pearl blue" and "metallic blue" though I'm not sure which one mine is. Doesn't really look like a green though. More like a very dark blue.

I'm still not sure what to do with the paint, what colour do you guys think? Natural finish? Light blue? Help me out with some input. Gotta get my ideas ready so I can do it as soon as I finish exams next week.

I really want a Falcon now. A Horus with a thin Jackson neck would be sweet. (Not bagging out the Horus' neck. It feels amazing even though it's thicker.)

Must just be the hue of my monitor that made it look greenish. I have no idea what the colour is then. They don't list dark metallic green as an option for the 550XL, but mine is definitely green

I'd want to see what the body looks like underneath the paint before making a decision. It might be fun to try and recreate something like one of the original finishes on that model.

It does look quite green in your picture. Not sure if it's the same finish as mine. Doesn't look like it tbh.

I like the psyco finish and would like to recreate it but I'll have to look for a guide on how to do those types of finishes. It reminds me of the Caparison type finish (Snow Cloud, Iceberg etc.) so it might be done in a similar fashion. I've looked for numerous threads about painting an EDS finish (not the regular type of EDS). I saw Vera's (24seven?) EDS finishes and one of them really caught my eye. Wasn't like a normal EDS. It was sharp and kinda looked 3D. But yeah, it used the normal EDS colours and looked great. I'm considering trying to do a reverse EDS finish too. I used to own a Jackson Fusion Custom with a reverse EDS finish. Looked stunning. Thanks for the input. I'll sand it down first.

The Caparison-style finishes (which my Falcon has) use a sponge technique over a base color, I believe. I don't think you can spray anything like that.

My 550xl is the same color, green metallic

Is it possible that its really a dark gunmetal grey and the clearcoat has yellowed with age causing the green effect? I know my pink HM stray now looks more like a salmon color because of this. Does it look the same color in the control cavity?

interesting idea, Carbuff. I've seen silver flake 550XLs with yellowed clearcoats too

I've seen that finish on other Japanese J/Cs from that era.
