  • KVX10 serial number help

I just picked up a Jackson KVX10 King V for $70 (and the stock pickups have been replaced with EMG-HZ H2s). The serial number is 01020218, so I'm thinking it's an Indian X series guitar. Can anyone verify this and/or let me know when it was made? I think the X series Indian bodies were made out of alder, instead of the Indian Cedro like the JS guitars, does anyone know? Thank you for the help.

70 bucks?? Is it beat? I have one, I think it is a 2004 but maybe 2003.... serial number is: 9694501. That is about as helpful as I can be.

Yep made in india, alder. I'm thinking 2001 from the serial number. I think the next year production went to Japan.

It's not beat-up at all (especially for a V, which tend to get dings on the far outreaches...), just a motivated seller:

I don't know if this helps date it any:

Serial 01020218, shark fin MOTO inlays, chrome hardware on a JT390 fixed bridge (i.e. Tune-o-matic style). The seller said it had Duncan Designed pickups that sounded "okay" in it originally before he put in the EMGs. I'm not a huge fan of the lower end Jacksons (though I have a few, because of deals like this), but she doesn't sound bad with the EMGs and she looks nice. Plus I can insist to people that she's not a JS30KV

From other posts on JCF, I believe it has been established that the X series started in India in 2000 and continued there into 2001 (Indian serials, i.e. MII, started with 0 or 1 and had 8 or 9 digits). In 2002 the X series moved to Japan (i.e. MIJ) and changed to the 96xxxxxx serial system. It looks like the 2000-2001 MII X series is easily confused (visually) with the 2004-current JS series (JS30KV / JS30RR / JS30KE / JS30DK) since they are both MII and feature chrome JT390 fixed bridges and chrome hardware. The difference is the shark fin MOTO inlays on the 2000-2001 MII X series vs. the dot MOTO inlays in the 2004-current MII JS series (and the JS series has 9 digit serial starting with the date, e.g. 2005xxxxx).

Anyone else able to shed more light on the date or wood?

"I'm thinking" isn't as definitive as "made in xxxx", that's all I meant

Let me spin it in another direction since this is rolling downhill quickly.....I hoped with your super skills (super powers maybe?) that with a few pictures you might be able to identify the exact minute it was created and in which state / union territory in India it was assembled in

I was just being a smartass.
Jackson's not like gibson serial numbers. If you take the neck off it MIGHT say what year and month it was made. Some do some don't. I don't I have ever seen anyone talk about the factory in india. We try to pretend only the MIA and MIJs exist. It was probably made by a company like samick or cort that makes guitars for other manufacturers too.

No problem on being a smartbutt.

Yeah, the neck and neck heel on every MII (including this KVX10), MIT (Made in Taiwan) and MIK (Made in Korea) Jackson I have are free of any indentifying marks. All my USA / MIJ Jacksons are marked, so I figured markings are for the higher end lines (USA / MIJ).

All correct, and a very good summary! I think I used to know where the India factory was, but hey I'm getting old, ha ha.

It took me probably 3 hours to figure all that data out at some point in the past....reading who knows how many posts... I've lurked here (and other forums) long enough to know how wonderful it is to find a good post with a summary of FAQs you are trying to find. Hopefully, someone will find this thread useful in a search.
