Hey thanks for the quick reply, but do you know the country of origin? Was wondering what it's worth though i'm not looking to sell it. Either way this is an awesome guitar and the pups sound great to my old ears lol.
6 digit serial starting with 9xxxxx = made in Japan.

I can't see your pics, but if you have a neck thru body with an ebony fret board and the small, piranha inlays, you have a 2012 made in Indonesia SL2. The tremolo would be a Korean made FRT02000 if black.
96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.
What? I thought the bolt-on serials were sequential and didn't indicate year of production.
Most of the sequential numbers were 7 digits and they didn't start until around '96. Most of the 6 digit serials before that were date coded, so 93xxxx would be 1993. There were 2 formats, 93xxxx and 3xxxxx= '93.

I bought this One in year 2002 and at this time the Jackson was about 2years Old. To See the pics pls copy the URLs. Maybe Serial means J202626. Is stamped by Hand you could See on the pictures

This Tremolo is the original one from these SL2:

Is it even a real Jackson? Not USA, whatever it is.

^^^ This.
Not a Jackson.
Someone dropped a Jackson trem in there, but it's obvious the route was not made for that trem.
The serial number format is wrong as well.
Guys, is it really so difficult? I droped this Tremolo out of the Sl2 into a ESP KH2 by myself in year 2009, couse the guitar was needed and I dont't have another to hand. . This Tremolo you See on the Pic of the black guitar is the original from the silver Jackson.t hat's what I mean! Pls excuse my bad English. I'm german
No, it's not difficult. I got that you put a different trem in it. I'm just questioning whether it's a real Jackson, that's all. Body binding on an import Jackson is just really strange.
Doesn't mean it's not a fake. Plenty of people have bought fake Jacksons over the years and didn't know it. Some better, clearer pics of the guitar and serial number would be nice.
Also, what pickups originally came in the guitar?
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
The heel cut doesn't look like a Jackson cut.
It could have been part of a limited run of imports, but there are a few things that are a bit off.
Ignoring hardware, as that can be replaced, there are a couple of features (body binding, no forearm contour) that are not correct for an import.
Again... it could be part of a limited run, so anything is possible.
Clearer pics might help. Hard to see the tummy cut do to the flaring in the photo.
I've just stumbled on this forum today (so glad I did!) after scouring the web for some time trying to identify the model of a Jackson guitar that was purchased back in '98. I'm still in the midst of reading all the information this wonderful thread has to offer but it will take me some time to go through it all.
Right off the bat I'd like to state that it has the serial number 700975 on a plate behind the fretboard where the neck joins the body. Based on my initial read here, I've come to understand that the first digit (at least in this 6-digit SN scenario) signifies the year it was made (1997 I reckon?).
It would be nice to know if this is indeed true and if so, what do the remaining numbers mean? Most importantly though, I'd really like to know what model this is. It has been bugging me for the longest time!
I will be uploading a few photos and sharing the links here, and would really appreciate a kind soul shedding some light into this dark tunnel of mine.

That's a '97 made in Japan number on an SS1. They appear in the '96 catalogue, but they don't appear in the '97 catalogue, so one can only theorize exactly what that indicates. Made in late '96, but given a '97 plate/serial? Serials, especially during the '90s, can be inconsistent.
You may find date stamps in the neck pocket, but I can't guarantee you'll find any or that they'll be written in a manner that's decipherable.
