The guitar you have is a Sam Ash special run soloist, that also went by the name SL2H (not to be confused with the USA SL2H). Its made in Japan, and is mostlikley limited to 100 being made. They were only available in that color. There was also another sister version of that guitar made for SamAsh, but with a trans blue flametop and Duncan pups.

How do you guys get information / data on special run models? Is there a list of special runs anyone has compiled?

Your are right Robrr, I found it on line listed as a Jackson [Pro Series] Soloist Archtop JSLATMBKX-P Sam Ash Exclusive but no specs, price or years of production. Gonna try and get some pics up after work. Thanks again.

When you've lived here long enough, you've seen these guitars come and go. I just keep informed by reading what is posted and checking out guitar stores.

I've noticed that you definately have a wealth of knowledge. If u care to share some of it let me know and I will integrate any special production run models you know of into the serial number database.

Seriously, I'm still learning. There are new models I've never heard of that pop up all the time. Ebay is a good learning tool, but beware of sellers that don't really know what they are selling.

the images need to be hosted on a photosharing website before you can post the links.

Hey Madness, what year did you buy yours? Do you think they will hold there value or possibly go up in value?

They won't go up in value unless you bought it used for like $300. Rosewood and MOTO sharkies kill the value. And it's an import.

Lowest price I saw at Sam Ash for one was either $699 or $799.

I think you should get $500 - $700 on ebay selling a used one.

Think about the classic high end models, like the Model 6, Soloist Pro, Kelly Pro, etc. Those sold for over a $1000 new, dropped down to about $400-$500 (maybe even less) a few years ago, and have climbed back up to around $700. They are still down over $300 from the new price.

The only exception is super rare and desirable models. KV Pro because of Mustaine, AT Pros and AT Pro Limited Edition, or clear finished 750XLs. Even these sometimes don't hit the price that they were new.

Very few new guitars are worth more than when paid new. I bought a new SG Standard in 1998 for $850. I'm pretty sure I can sell it for more than I paid new, but it's taken 11 years to get there.

Rattlehead, I bought mine within days of seeing them advertised online. It was in January...can't remember if it was '07 or '08 though. And as for the value...what Don said.

I played one of these when they first came out and wasn't all that impressed. It was ok, but not worth what Sam Ash was asking. Not up to the standard of the old Pro guitars or probably even the Model 5 & 6.
