  • Ngd gc dk2

Got my new DK2 today. It came in a cloth case about the size and shape of a rectangular hard shell case. Inside the case is a plastic shell for added protection. Unique and seems nice, but I’m not sure how durable it is. From the condition of the box the guerillas at UPS must have really thrown the package around. Looks like the case saved it.

The guitar is an amber burst DK2 made in 1999 and is in excellent condition. GC managed to get it to me after I called a half dozen times over a two week period to sort things out. It was well worth the extra effort to get it. I checked the bill of sale that came with the package and they charged me CA sales tax of 8.75% but no shipping fee.

Oddly enough a date stamp in the neck pocket has--1999. 1. 22.—11 years ago to the day I got it (today 1/22/10) stamped in ink. The neck is stamped DK2 and the Jackson neck plate has a seven digit serial number starting with 9. It has a JT580LP made by Takeuchi (engraved in the block) and the weakest springs I have ever used. The neck has a thick finish on it, not the feel of raw wood I’ve come across on newer DK’s I’ve seen in the local GC. Can’t say I’m too impressed with the DD pups so they have to go.

Anyone know if the trem posts are interchangeable between DK2’s and where I might be able to get new ones? Looks like the female part the Allen key goes into is stripped on both studs.

Overall GC really came through for me on this one!

Ford, somebody had it somewhere, but no one has said who misplaced it--lol. Doesn't matter. All's well that ends well.
