  • Really basic question about series

Maybe a bit dumb, but can someone just verify the 'ranking' of the Jackson series of guitars for me. I can't find this info on their website, although the catalogue has more.

So I get that USA Select is MIA and is the best quality, and that JS is the entry-level stuff, but what about Pro, MG and X series? Are these all at the same quality level, i.e. MIJ with similar components and finishing?

    JS-> X -> MG -> Pro -> Select -> Custom shop

So you rank PRO > MG, then any idea why the DKMG is more expensive than a DK2M or a DK2? Is it just the EMGs in the DKMG? They are pretty close specwise otherwise.

Hmm, you're right, though I thought the MG series were MI-somewhere else than-J
a while back, and ofcourse were loaded with HZ p'ups

Been out of the loop for a while, so I could be off

The again, the Jenna James RX10D is more expensive than a DK2

Disregard what I wrote before (wrong info). I know the DKMG's are MIJ.

MG=Pro. RR24, SLSMG, WRMG, DKMG are on the same level as KE3, RR3, etc (RR24 comes up on Jackson's site as an MG) DXMG comes up under the X series.

Has anyone on here actually played it?

With regards to the series, I've always heard that X are MIJ on an assembly line and Pro/MG are MIJ by hand. True?

                  And PS are MII (India).

Maybe the xx5's, but I sincerely doubt the xx3's are

Yeah, the PS series was never made in India. They were however made in Korea, before production moved back to Japan.

And personally, I think all MIJ Jacksons are made on a production line, more-or-less. That's how they keep the price down. The neck-thrus are probably a little more "made by hand" due to their construction though.

Sorry, I meant JS not PS. They don't even make PS any more

What makes you think they are made differently? They're both Pro series, and have different feature lists (hence the differen model numbers).

And in case it wasn't clear from the above post, "MG series" really means "Pro series with EMG pickups".

The Jackson website has the RR24 under MG series, but uses one to illustrate the Pro series category thumbnail The RR24 is also of higher spec than most Pro or MG models, but i guess made in the same factory by the same people.
