  • Tale of a 4 years waited Axe...Finally, my Jackson Kelly Custom(ed)

    Ok here's the story
4 years ago,I bought a used Ps6.But the frets were so bad so I decide to change them, Gave it to a local luthie, but I couln't know that he was just a newbie in his job, and he f.cked the fretboard up =/

After that, I decided to rebuilt this axe according to my pleasure..
Designed some new prototypes from Jcf custom shop which is not usable anymore, these were some of them from that times...

But due to my busy school and life, I had to built it very very slow, which the process took 4 years.OMG !!!!

Bought a new custom Jackson neck from States which is thicker than standart import necks, and vertical to the fretboard 1mm tighter also with mapple fretboard with dots..

Bought X2N for bridge 3 years ago then removed the paint 2 years ago,and bought an air norton for neck 1 month ago... That's before painting...

Also did other major changes on body like...
-changing the back straplock's position,it's now %90 balanced like a regular strat body
-reaching to the switch was a problem for me with kelly and also there was only one knob, no tone! So we opened a new cavity on the lower horn for 3 way switch,to make easy like Dime's or Petrucci's guitar, used the old switch hole for tone pot

Here is the colour I've selected

    After painting

And after assembling process (sorry the camera is not so good, couln't show it's real colour, it's like above )

    And here with his brothers...
    That's my family

I really like the color choice with the pick up combination and maple neck. Does the gap between the neck and the body affect the playability or stability? The replacement neck looks like it is not as wide as the original.

          Thanks,
and no it doesn't..That's realy really a small gap, only 1mm...At first I was some anxious about it,but when I brougt the parts to luthie for assembling,he sad 1mm gap between the neck and the body is not important neither for sustain nor for stability...I was thinking of fillling that gap with something, but when I hearded that explanation from my luthie I didn't ought to fill it,it has a great sustain and tone

All you need to do is toss that junk JT-500 trem and replace it with a Schaller and it will be perfect.

Nice mod btw... love the color.
