It is an import. It's got a better bridge (OFR) and better pickups (Seymour Duncan Distortions) but my heart belongs to Jackson.

Funnily enough, I am in the same situation - hence coming over here to join in! My main guitar for the last 10 years was a flame top RR3R, but a few months ago I bought a BC Rich KKV and sold the Jackson, and have the exact same feelings. The KKV is a superbly made and sounding guitar, thru neck, EMGs, Kahler BUT it just doesn't feel right to me and I'm just not 'bonding' with it if you know what I mean. I also agree that it is the neck that is the problem, as it just lacks that 'magic' that my RR had. Ah well, you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone, eh? Hence I am now looking to chop in the KKV for another Jackson, or maybe even one of those new USA Charvels. And I can tell you, if that RR3 is as good as mine was, you will be in for a treat!

Excellent!! Congrats! Glad you found one to trade! Just another opinion to throw in, I've never had a problem with a JT580LP either. I even put one (the one with the squared baseplate, 1994 I think??) on my Model 6 cause I like how they feel under my hand.

Never had a problem with the JT580LP either. And the squared baseplate was indeed from 1994.

Thanks, warlok. I'm actually pretty excited about the RR3. Hopefully I am one of the people who like the FT580LP. Since I haven't been playing long and am still learning (and therefore not dead-set in my ways) I think I'll adjust to it pretty easily.

I have to add that I think the guitar looks awesome.

There's something of a timeless beauty over the combination black and chrome. I know many people think that chrome hardware looks "cheap", but I love the look of it. If I had that guitar, I'd add thin chrome metal pickup bezels on top of the plastic ones.

Not sure what you are referring to about the chrome pickup bezels...are you talking chrome pickup rings or chrome pickup covers? (Like a lot of Les Pauls have) or something like a replacement bobbin top in chrome? ...but anyway, might look cool with some added chrome, something to set 'er apart from 'er other stock siblings! Will have to look into the options there.

A pickup ring is also known as a bezel.

                      I knew that.

Seriously, that's an excellent suggestion. I scrolled back up and was looking at the pics I posted and it would add a lot of character with chrome trim rings. Are they all a standard size? Or will I need to measure the current ones to make sure they will fit?

Does anyone have the 2004 Jackson Catalog scan? The Official Jackson site is missing 2004 (except for the Japan 2004 Stars catalog) and the audiozone.dk catalog scans page seems to be down....

I have the same exact model. Same Chrome hardware and pickups. I changed out the DD's with a set of EMG's (81 & 85) and this thing ROCKS now. I have not had any problems with the bridge at all. It stays in tunes for MONTHS! I only have to tweak it a little once in a while, but I have it hanging on a wall hanger and there are times I don't touch it for a month or more. Everytime I do pick it up to play it, it is still in tune. I wouldn't touch that bridge unless you really, really have to!!

At this point, I really have no intentions of replacing the bridge. That is, unless I totally hate it, but I doubt I will.
I would like to go with the chrome bezels as sunbane suggested, and possibly replace the pickups with some real Duncans, but otherwise I think it's great!
Will arrive to me on Tuesday. I can't wait!

Me and my single-locking JT-570 hate you all with your fancy-schmancy stay-in-tune-for-more-than-5-minutes trems. lol

I have a fake single locking trem on a BCR and it stays in tune better than 1/2 my locking trems. So don't be too upset m2pmd70.

                              Dalytek - you get it??

Yep, I sure did. And I love it!
The bridge feels great to me, I have had no troubles at all.
Hell, for now, even the DD Detonators sound alright.
I would like to upgrade them in the future, but for now they don't sound too shabby.

I am going to take some pictures in the natural light once the weather clears up soon so I can share my new baby with everyone!
