  • Anyone know the block size on a DK2m Floyd?

I'm looking up upgrade the metal block on my 2007 Dk2m, but not sure of the screw spacing, in mm, that this trem requires.

    Thanks!

I'm sure it came with a 32mm from the factory. However with the recessed tremolo's about 95% of the time you can put a 37mm block on w/ no problems. I installed blocks on I wanna say 6-7 of my guitars and finally ran into a problem where on my RR5FR I liked the tremolo so low for the low action the 37mm block hit the cavity plate. So I had to get a 32mm and put the 37mm on another guitar. Non recessed tremolo's you can go bigger than 37mm.

I personally get my blocks from a guy named Keith off ebay, username hoockey.

Tell him Chris sent you if you decide to deal with him. I have nothing but excellent things to say about him or his products!

Only thing is be 100% sure that you put it on the right way so that the springs fit the right way. You'll know when you do a dry run of putting on the springs w/out fastening the block to the tremolo plate.

      Thanks, I'll check him out.
I was looking at the stuff from floydupgrades.com and asked the owner if he knew if his jackson blocks fit the dk2. He replied wanting to know screw spacing in mm, so I just wanted to try to clear that up.

So the 32 or 37 mm number is how deep it is, not the screw spacing?
Do you know if all licensed floyds/ floyds the same spec as far as the screw spacing is concerned?

What type tremolo do you have? I know a vast majority of the ones that fit the Original Floyd Rose fits almost every other tremolo found on a Jackson. There however was one exception to this, that was on a JT580LP where Keith had to copy the customers block and he made a couple extra for that specific spacing. I have installed two of the blocks that were a universal fit for a OFR onto the JT580LP's w/ no problem. I want to say it was only a problem found with like the first year of the JT580LP's.

It would only be a guess really as far as the exact model number.
Is a model # printed on the trem?
          It's a stock 2007 dk2m sw anyway.

            Got a pic of it?

This website should help you identify it to a T.
            http://audiozone.dk/index-filer/TremoloInfoProject.htm

Just be careful when looking at pics and reading, because it can be really confusing trying to pick out exactly which one it is.

I'll do some investigation on that page and maybe post a pic tomorrow if need be.

              Thanks, man!

That pic is of the 1994 JT580LP that has the squared off plate. Every other one up till now as far as I know has the angled backside of the baseplate like the chrome one next to that pic on the audiozone link. I have the 1994 and the OFR block from hoockey fit perfect (42mm non-recessed in a Model 6)

Good eye warlok, I missed that. It looked really close to mine, so I posted it up, but mine is a newer version.

Also, got in touch with Keith on ebay, Chris, says you have some really sweet RR Jacksons

He does make a block for this trem, so I went ahead and got that ordered.
                    Thanks dudes!

Awesome, you honestly can't go wrong with buying one of his blocks! I just got my 32mm block from him in the mail today and am awaiting once I get off the interwebz to put it on. He's a great guy who looks out for his customers so I try to spread the word as much as possible when the topic comes up.

I have a few Jackson Rhoads in the link in my sig All equipped with blocks from him!

                        Well thanks again, man.
The block showed up yesterday and got it in my Dk2m last night. I really does kick the tone of the guitar up a few notches, a great mod for these trems imo. Really easy install, just have to ensure you get you intonation set exactly right once you get your guitar back together.
                        Cool.

Not a problem! What I do is I use an old Washburn 600S Tremolo off of one of my Dime 333's and loosen the saddles and butt the screws together to put it back somewhere in the same area.

I was lucky that my trem had a bit of dust on it. I could see right where the saddle were with the dust out line!
