  • How old SL3 ?

    SL3 has a serial number: 060***
    How old is it?
It is in excellent condition and costs about $650 (Too much?)

Why did you hide the rest of the serial number? I see people do that often, and I was just curious.

$650 is way too much when you consider people are selling awesome Soloist Pros for $500 + shipping.

I purchased a soloist sl3 on ebay for 650$ andy about 2 weeks ago. Mine was in trans red and almost perfect condition, no chips really. I saw most of the ones with the licensed floyd selling for about 700-800$ used. I didn't see any used FRT02000 versions, but I'm sure they would have been around 700-900 probably.

That has really been bugging me as well, in many instances.

The first reason I can think of, is that it's possibly stolen, and they don't want the theft victim or the authorities to come around to claim the guitar?

Or maybe they don't want to be associated with the guitar for some reason, in case they sell it on? "No sir, that Jackson with the warped neck is not the one I sold".

(I'm not saying that this may be the case here, but it does make you wonder...)

I haven't thought of it really before, but I just assumed it was maybe so no one could copy their real serial number onto a fake or something like that.
Then, if you bought the fake and searched for the serial number (say on the Epiphone Dater site) it would look like you got a genuine guitar.

You'd have to have access to pro equipment and a real eye for detail to fake a serial on a counterfeit instrument and make it look original. People passing on stolen or fake goods rarely have the brains or the talent to pull it off.
