I would think because of the serial and wide fret dots, that this is an Indonesian model. I believe all of the Japanese models begin with 98, congrats from 1 kelly fan to another

Were these made in Indonesia as well?
I only knew about Korea and Japan?

Anyway, AFAIK the leeding 9 in your Serial would indicate MIJ.
This is what MIK dot inlays would look like:

but that's a nice looking guitar for sure!
and a pretty good deal you got IMO!

edit: my guess for the date would be: it's a late one.
the japan production didn't run for that long after the korean production IIRC, so maybe it's a '97? '98?
      should be somewhere around that...

Nice guitar, and a even nicer amp! I just got my 8100 and this amplifier kills.

                Hehe, iknow.
but beside the sticker, the most people say that it's a japanese because of the dots.
I dont really care, but im just wondering when and where it was build
And it is very great, good quality, and the tremolo is amazing, It's stays in tune very good.

Get your eyes checked... the 12th fret dots are not wide apart on that one.

Heck no, then I would have to follow speed limit signs

This was the one that the bridge parts were missing in the store or something like that, right? Looks like a JT500 baseplate with Gotoh saddles and the JT500 lock screws. And a chrome bar collar?? I have to admit it kinda looks cool. Only thing I'd say is to make sure you don't crank the holy hell out of any of the screws on the bridge and it should stay good for a long time. Nice guitar!
