  • Correct Pickup Height on Jackson Dinky DK-2 (HSS configuration)

what is the correct height for all three pickups in this guitar? neck, middle and bridge? Should i get any special ruler to measure the height? if so what kind? Please be advised that it has the HSS configuration.

Pickup height is a matter of personal preference.

I prefer to have the single coils on my Soloists set down pretty low, so that they don't magnetically interfere so much with the vibration of the strings. Since I use them only for clean sounds, I don't need lots of output from them. For bridge pickups, I don't specifically measure it, but I like to have have about 1/8" of space between the pickup and the strings. Any closer than that and the tone gets very shrill, in my experience.

My advice is to make small adjustments until you find the "sweet spot" in terms of tone. Believe me, you will know it when you hear it.

+1 Whatever sounds best. In my ST-III, the bridge and neck pickups are high, and the middle is low for clean tones.
