charvel and jackson bodies the same specs

I have a new SanDimas neck that I put on an old 89 dinky Charvel body. IT fits fine but is a little beat up. Will a Jackson DK have the same specs and bolt up fine? Just seems easier to fine theJacksons on ebay.

Yes. Just make sure you get a 22 fret body. A lot of sellers don't know any better, and 22 fret Jackson bodies aren't too common. Jackson went to 24 frets fairly early on I think. A lot of Charvel Models are 22 fret so it's fairly easy to get the right one.

So a 22 fret version wont fit?

The neck will probably bolt up and fit the neck pocket fine but the intonation will be off on a Jackson body meant for a 24 fret neck.

You need to match a 22 fret neck (which you have) to a 22 fret body (which you are looking for).

If you 22 fret guitar and your 24 fret guitar both have the same scale length, then shouldnt the necks be interchangeable?

When I measure from the nut to the bridge saddle it's 25.5 inches on the 22 fret Charvel guitar. I thought if the 24 fret body was the same scale It was fine. Or is there no way it bolts up right?

Theoretically, as long as the scale is the same, it should work, but the informed here say it wont and the only reason I can think is that the end of the neck that goes in the pocket actually extends with the two extra frets instead of the 2 extra frets hanging off the end of the neck, which would mean the pocket on the 24 fret guitar would be routed further into the body, thus if you put a 24 fret neck on a 22 fret body, the scale becomes longer on the bridge side and vice versa for a 22 fret neck on a 24 fret body.

No. The necks and neck pockets are different as you've already found out. I saw a Warmoth "Jackson" 24 fret neck and the last 3-4 frets were hanging off past the heel of the neck. This might have worked on a 22 fret body, but you'd loose the neck pickup if it had one.

But, I've found that I can take a 24 fret Fusion neck and put it on a 24 fret Kelly body (came that way from ebay actually) and it intonated fine. So there is a loose rule that 24 fret necks fit 24 fret bodies of mixed scales, and 22's with 22's. It's a loose rule because only that guitar has been tried before that I know of.
