There is some confusion on these with or without binding. I think the new SLAT's also.

You can find the "old" KV5 and KE5 without binding for cheap ($600-ish) and some sellers have the new ones with binding.

Even though it's really just a cosmetic thing, I'm pretty excited about them adding the binding on these as it compares nice spec-wise with other brands.

The binding makes a huge difference looks wise. The only way I wanted a NT was with binding. When the RR24 came out the first few had binding and I wanted one, but it didn't happen, lack of funds.

RR0166 came up on Ebay, and the funds were there, and the wife gave a huge NO! I'd have definately bought it.

This came up stupid cheap, and when she said OK, I clicked the BIN, and paid it immediately, no chance for second thoughts. She only now realizes I have 4 guitars, and there is no getting rid of any. Only thing now is I'm starting to gas for a new amp, and a friend has a 5150 II 2x12 to let go. Don't know how much yet, but it may happen too.

Congratulations and all but this is fucking bullshit. I got my KV5FR in black two weeks ago and I didn't get no bindings nor did I get the reduced price. This totally soured my day.

The only one I've seen with binding is the Bolted Steel. I always did like the graphic. The auction was posted that very day.

I swear I read somewhere in the NAMM forums from Bionic, McD, or maybe it was someone else connected to J/C said to expect more binding on imports. I tried to search for the thread, but haven't found it yet.

Yeah, it's weird, I see them for sale for full MAP without and with binding, and also reduced without binding.

I am not really sure what is going on... It seems the model has changed and dealers are quietly selling out the old stock at the standard price while others are blowing them out. Kind of like what happened with the San Dimas Style 2 - IIRC Fender said they could blow them out at $699 but some guys stuck to the $1099 price (and a lot of them are STILL holding out for the $1099 all this time later... )

All models of the RR24 have binding... the limited edition with the reverse inlays has ivoroid binding, but the regular models have black binding.

I didn't know they had black binding, I thought that was only on the Phil Demmel V. But yeah, the limited edition ones are sweet, that's what i was referring to. Forgot about the reversed inlays too.

Yep, you are correct. NGD excitement. But hey, I GTWGITS! Get one, well worth the $$$.
The only other difference I forgot to mention is the trussrod adjustment doesn't take the crackpipe wrench, it takes an allen wrench.

Well I finally got my KV5FR bolted steel guitar! Twenty seven days after I paid for it. It is a really sweet guitar. I will post some pictures as soon as I can. I will never buy anything from this place ever.

I know good guy Chris Cannella did a lot of stuff with/for them but in my experience they suck! They don't even follow their own policies.

I have to admit it is one sweet playing and sounding guitar. The last 2 Jacksons I purchased have been stellar. This KV5FR and my RR24M. I don't normally like floyds or non super strat (soloist,dinky,sls) body shapes but I am glad I had an open mind and tried something different!
