dxmgt on the way yay

Dunno if i got a good deal or not but i was browsin guitar centers used stuff and saw a black dxmgt for 149. So i called em up. Shipping was 13 bucks so i said screw it. I could use a string thru for learning songs w alt tunings since retuning my floyded guitars would be a pain. I'll post pics when i get it. Hopefully before the holiday.

Congrats on your DXMGT purchase. Very good price on an underrated Jackson. The only weak spot is the HZ pickups. I swapped in a set of the Duncan Distortion Mayhem set in one of my DXMGTs and swapped out the H3 bridge p/u for a H4 in my other DXMGT. Love these guitars. I know some people don't like the "smurf hat" headstock but I do. Let us know how you like the DXMGT when you get it.

Im not a fan of the smurf hat either an will most likely try to find a dkmgt neck to put on it. I have 2 emg 85s waiting to get dropped in it and if i can get a few bucks for the hz's on ebay it'll make the cost of the guitar around 110

The DXMGT RRM was my first guitar. Haven't played it in a while due to being away from home. But it was the one I learned a good majority of my tricks, licks, technique, etc on. I am surely never giving it up, selling it, trading it, or parting with it in my life because it has served me very well the last 4 years!

I like the 3x3 headstock and sharkies with the archtop.

On the archtoptop it looks ok, but on a flat top it looks funny to me.

i agree with twitch, i always liked the smurf hat a little. however, i think it's at its classiest when paired with the mini sharkies (a la SLSMG) rather than normal sharkies. something just messes with the chemistry there for me. a SH headstock with mini sharkies or shark-eyes just kicks my ass completely, especially on an archtop.

Yeah the sharkies are a bit much for the headstock cut. Now i hate the way mine looks lol.



Yeah there a nice hit near the string ferrules.




Pulled the hz's immediately and put in an 85/60 in there. Sounds great. Playability is a bit wierd. Neck feels narrow and short, but i just restrung it and tuned e std so that may be why. just feels funny right now.

and yeah, for some reason the SH headstock just doesn't do too well with the aggressive look of the sharkies.. just like the mini sharkies tend to look weird on classic headstocks. my DKMG has a badass reverse headstock, but with mini sharkies.. kind of a buzzkill sometimes but whatever works

Doesnt the dkmg come with the mini tooth inlays? I thought it was the dxmg that had sharkies or did urs get a neckswap at some point?
