  • SLSMG - Am I being unreasonable?

Mods: This is NOT a spam post. I have this guitar in the Classifieds here. If this is not allowed, please move or delete.

Okay, so I told everyone how I bought the Green Swirl SLSMG two months ago, about how the seller screwed me out of a case, and about how the super-slim neck doesn't really work for me. Thanks to the fact that Guitar Center SUCKS DONKEY BALLS, I had no chance to try one out locally before buying.

So, I put her on the 'Bay with a BIN of $750.00. One guy hit the BIN and then asked me if he could back out. I agreed.

I relisted with a BIN of $650.00. No bids. This time, though, one guy asked if he could pick it up locally. I said yes and never heard back. Another one asked for more pictures. I sent them. He also asked for the serial number. Um.....NO.

So now I've listed it again with a BIN of $625.00.

I paid $950.00 for this thing two months ago and it's in perfect, like new condition. Why is it so damned hard to sell it? I've offering the deal of a lifetime but all I seem to be getting is jerked around.

Is the SLSMG really this shitty on resale?

Yeah man, sorry to hear but Rich#6 is right - it's hard to sell stuff these days really. Every now and then you might get someone who is looking for just that one thing (and all it takes is one) but I think more people are holding on to their cash right now. Plus, the SLSMG market isn't great for you - for example, while I bought a different, earlier model, the guitar I got off ebay awhile ago was under $400. Quite a few you can still find around that price range if you're willing to wait. Maybe not in green swirl, but I think the SLSMG line is VERY undervalued in the used market.

EDIT: just looking at eBay in completed listings, I see actually a few green swirl SLSMGs that went for 750 and above. Perhaps don't devalue it too much otherwise people will think something is wrong with it!

Why not? We ask for serial numbers all the time here. You can find out a lot of info (like the year of manufacture, for instance) as well as one way to check for potential counterfeit guitars, by getting the serial number.

Yup, telling a buyer he can't have the serial number? You might as well told him it was knock-off garage project. Not that I am saying it is, but asking for serial numbers is common practice before buying an instrument. I would NEVER buy a guitar from someone who refused to give me the serial number. This way you know for next time.
I would so snatch that up it if were 24 frets

I got my SLSMG for $400 with hardshell, and see them go for $500 on CL all the time.

Okay, that makes sense. This is actually my first sale on E-Bay and I was worried that some clown might report the guitar stolen with that serial or whatever.

I just think you need to be more patient. Too cheap might spook some people. You had a buyer at $750. You'll get another. Just need to wait for your buyer to come along. Hell, the guitar had a previous buyer pay $950 for it!

True, but gullible suckers like that don't come along every day.

I have lots of guitars on the block and none are moving so I feel your pain.
High end stuff is stagnant right now and I am having trouble with the mid priced stuff too.Tough times.
