  • Jackson JDR94?

    Ever see one of these?

They are essentially the same as the Performer PS-4. The Concept series was made for one year (Japan - 1994) before being rebranded and existing for several more years in the Performer line. Good guitars, but the stock pickups and trem were pretty bad. I have three of the JDX94 version (and sold another two) and have gigged and recorded with all of them.

$250 is pretty reasonable, although they were never $1100 street price.

MSRP was $450 with a hard case. I bought one the day they arrived in the shop.
I used to sell Jacksons throughout the early and mid 90's before I found a real career.
Anyway... fantastic guitars from a build perspective.
As Inazone stated... junk trem and electronics, but well worth upgrading.
And yeah... $250 is a decent price.

JDR was my first Jackson. I used it for 3 years on stage before trading it off for a Soloist Pro. I picked up another one a couple of years later and that's when I realized that the electronics weren't as good as they could be compared to other guitars I had at the time, but they are still very valid guitars that are a joy to play once that is corrected.

Thinnest necks in the world!!! (well, my world at least.. lol). With the current buyers market pricing, I'd say $200 tops. I have one for sale locally and can't get $175 for it. I'll probably keep it..

Yup ive owned like 6 of em. Great guitar. I wish they had made it as just a dual hum, but then they did have the dinky reverse. As others have stated the trem and electronics could use an upgrade. For 250 id get it, but thatd be my cap on it. Theres one on my local craigslist goin for 400 lol. Im guessing that guy will be keepin it lol. As u can tell by my name it was my favorite guitar for a long long time. The best neck imo.

I just got another so now I have 2, I feel they are a little better quality (fretboard rosewood seems nicer) than the Ps4s I have had but that could me my imagination because they are pretty much identical, exept the volume knob on the JDRs is closer to the center of the bridge pickup. 1 came with the stock pickups which I do like, the other came with passive EMG HZs which I'm probly the only person in the worlds that actually loves, so take my pickup tastes with a grain of salt. I got the latest for $199 at guitar center and was in great condition, I personally think these are the ultimate superstrats, but thats because they combine my person preference of thin neck (thiner than any Jackson I've tried or the old Ibanez RGs) and HSH. but if you like beefier necks HH etcs they would not be the best

I have one too, it's one of my favourite guitars and better than any of the higher priced import bolt on's I've owned (DK2M, KE3, RR3, Stealth EX). Only my SL3 is a better guitar.
I put CTS pots and a better switch in mine with a BL USA 500XL in the bridge which is set to autosplit in position 2.

I've had one of these for around 15 years, it's a nice guitar but mine needs some work doing to it possibly a new bridge and some other modifications. Does anyone know which size truss rod wrench you need for one of these?
