Hey guyz,
Here's my idea. I want black hardware on my King V that came with chorme. Also I've put in a brass big block and plan to install higher performance pick ups. The trem is a JT580lp, which I purchased a black version of, but during the rebuild I decided on making this axe my own. I decided on a chrome/black theme. So far I like the looks and I'm excited to finish it when the other parts get here.
So what I chose was to install Black Tuners (not here yet, but will update), Black Tremolo, Black Knobs, Chrome nut, Chrome 3-way Switch and install the original Chrome Saddles.
Here's a pic of the chrome trem
Here's the Black trem I got from ebay (installed, but will be pulled)
Here's the comparison shot of the Big Block and the Stock Block. I orded a 37mm which fits fine from ebay from a guy named hoockey. This is a great block and the King V sounds AMAZING! He charges less, but the quality is as high as the floydupgrades guy's and floydupgrades doesn't make a block for the JT580lp. I highly recommend trying this guy!
Here's a link to his ebay site: http://shop.ebay.com/hoockey/m.html
Black trem disassembled
Now the Big Block is installed
This is when I decided I like the Chrome Saddles in the Black Tremolo
Now with the strings attached here's what the Big Block looks like installed. Like the way I used the quarters to block the trem? I'm a floater so a trem stop would be pointless!
Other side! I love the Chrome/BLack look.
All tuned up and ready to Shred! Matilda (the Bassett Hound) can sleep through anything!!!
The tuners and knobs aren't here yet, but I plan on updating as I do more stuff. I'll be updating this thread as I do.
Like I said, the brass Big Block really opens up the tone and fills the room! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I will add a brass spring claw and coated springs later.
Rock ON!
