    Not really, as the serial designation is/was determined by humans, someone might think "well its built in 89 so the serial should reflect this" while someone else might say "its a 90 model so even though we built it in 89 the serial should reflect the model year"

    Also, humans frequently change their mind

      What I was trying to say in my post was that the Jackson Professional line from Japan began in March of 1990, it BEGAN THEN, not that they were released then. The oldest Jackson Pro ever made was made in the Spring season of 1990, the plant wasn't even up and running in 1989. Grover Jackson personally got the ball rolling on that right before he left the company for good in 1989, but the first guitars started up in March of 1990.

        My research tells me this plant the Chushin Gakki factory was making Charvels since 1986 and then starting making Jackson at the same factory later on when Jackson decided on imports.

          I have always found this theory to make the best sense, but to help verify, we need members to post the serials on all their presumed 1990-1995 Jackson bolt-on Rhoads, Dinky, Fusion, Stealth, Kelly, King V, Infinity, JTX, Concept, Futura, Concert, JPB models.

          I haven't been bothered to scan the serial-number thread here on JCF, to see if we can extract some knowledge from that.

          Nimitz, I don't know if you want this to happen in this thread. The whole Jackson serialisation is hard work and you get very tired very quickly. Notice the lack of hard facts and serial submissions in this thread :-)

              Isn't it possible that the first 9999 guitars built had the year stamped in the first two digits of the serial number. Then they had to drop the first 9 to avoid duplicating serial numbers with only a 6 digit numbering system in place.

                Perhaps the first 9999 guitars off the assembly line used the first two digits of the serial for the year and numbers 10000 and up they had to drop the 9 to avoid serial duplications with only a 6 digit system in place.

                Sorry for duplicate post, didnt think original went through

                  Something is off here because the first digit denotes the last number of the year made... so my six digit Pro starting with 9 was made in 1999... nope not possible we all know that.

                  0xxxxx = 1990
                  1xxxxx = 1991
                  2xxxxx = 1992
                  3xxxxx = 1993
                  4xxxxx = 1994
                  5xxxxx = 1995

                  9xxxxx = 19??

                  Does anyone speak Japanese?
                  That would suggest my Warrior Pro that has a serial of J000608 was made in 1990 not 1991, right?

                      I know this isn't exactly what you asked for, but I'm gonna post a Fusion EX anyway and I wish people would do the same. Because it could help us verify the theory about this (example):
                      1990-1992 = 90xxxx, 91xxxx, 92xxxx
                      1993-1995 = 3xxxxx, 4xxxxx, 5xxxxx

                      Jackson Fusion EX (model available between 1992-1995):

                          So, 1993 might be a "transition" year with regards to serialization. Or the EX I posted is from 1930. You decide
