  • Soloist, with EMG-Hz Pickups

I am wondering if these pickups require a battery. They are working fine but I do not want them to stop working. I pulled the panel off the back by the volume knobs and don't see anything that indicates that indicate a batter even exist. Any insight?

EMG-HZs are passive pickups, so no, they don't need a battery.
    I like maple fretboards. :P

First time I've read someone put HZ's in a Soloist.

Thanks everyone. I bought the guitar used from a private seller. $200. Thought it was a good deal. Came with the pickups already in it.

Soloist at $200? Good steal. Don't see that happening in the uk anytime soon.

Between the HZs and the $200, you sure it's not a Dinky of some sort?

Can you post a picture of this $200 soloist?

My money says it's a DXMG.

                  +1. If it's neck-thru, then it's a Soloist. If it's bolt-on, then it's a Dinky.

It is a bolt on. I guess it is a Dinky. My bad. Is that a DXMG? I am just getting back into playing. Always liked Jackson guitars.

FYI there is no 'soloist' headstock

there's the 6-in-line or 3+3 pointy HS, the fender HS, or the ballsack HS used on SL models

                            It's quite easy.

                            Soloist = Neck Thru
Dinky = bolt on with a smaller (hence dinky) body
Strat = regular strat sized body.

It would be a lot easier to name your guitar if we could see it, but about the only guitar that matches what you have is a DXMG "Dinky".

                            It should have:

                            Reversed headstock
Regular (not reveresed) sharkies (MOTO, imatation Mother or Pearl).
                            Rosewood fretboard with binding
2 humbuckers with a blade style 3 way switch
no active electronics (no battery needed).
Usually come in black or gunmetal grey.
