I did cut the board. but decided the tiger striped ebony was to awesome to inlay so have to cut another one.., Did get the pup in and have a few bits ordered last week. inlay making material and stuff.. trying to find a awesome green to go with..
I just took charge of five 0.6mm quilted maple sheets, large enough to do the headstock with. I reckon subtle dyed, laquered and overpainted quilted maple looks looks better than solid colours on headstocks. And if you are as competant as you are you could always cut it undersize add headstock binding. Like quilted black....adds another dimension of quality.
Thing I dislike about RR5's is the stratchplate and corresponding route. Wish Jackson offered an RR24 non-routed version with TOM bridge and 22 frets. Then it would look proper custom with a few mods.
