  • Help a noob identify this Kelly, please?

Found this Kelly for sale and don't know what year/model it is. Serial number is 9656422. Seller says he thinks it a 1996 MIJ Jackson KE-X in Red violet metallic, but not sure. Thought it might be a KE-XLR. If any of you can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

That finish is sweet. Swap that chrome for some black and it'd be perfect! Ha ha.

Def not an xlr as the xlr has binding, no neckplate, serial num on the back of headstock and came with jackson pickups iirc.

KE3R - Closer to 1999-2000 era I believe. Get some dye on that fretboard!

An XLR would have ivoroid neck binding and real mother of pearl inlays.

I checked the 1998-2000 catalogs, and the only colors available for this model were Black, Midnight Blue Sparkle, Trans Blue, Trans Red. I don't think yours is the latter; maybe it's some sort of custom paint job?

Red Violet Metallic is an actual Jackson color, right? Looks like it was used on the Performer series.
Looks like the seller took the info I gave him and put it on eBay (found it on craigslist previously).
