DXMG Rebuild

I have had this guitar since a learner guitarist. I recently rebuilt it.
(in other words i butchered a perfectly working guitar)
Any one have any thoughts, questions, opinions about guitar rebuilds?

Some people will probably ask why spend money upgrading a DXMG.

I had one, loved it, but took it back because I thought $275 without a case was too much

The recently I found one or $180 and a TKL case for $40, so I'm back.

I have a lot of kick ass guitars but the DXMG is a great sounding fun to play guitar. I like mine just the way it is. Maybe add some skull and crossbones ala Michael Wilton.

Yeah, i know... why bother with a DXMG? I did the rebuild and spent some money on the guitar for personal nostalgic reasons. it was sitting there, hardly been used and looking very sorry for itself...I have owned it for a long time and has alot of memories associated with it.
It also got me back in to playing guitar as i havent put it down since.

very cool upgrade. looks great.

i had a dxmg. light guitar. i didn't think it was that bad though. the neck was smooth and thin (but not that thin); the pups need to be changed. with the upgrades, your dxmg now looks/sounds awesome.

BEAUTIFUL rebuild. I'm not really a fan of chrome hardware on a regular day, but it looks sweet as all hell on that finish.

yeah, what color is that? did you use spray can? i saw a krylon color similar to that the other day... it was called something like hammered metal.... it reminded me of your guitar.

Actually, i now have a question. What method(s) did you use to get the original paint and sealer off of the body during prep?

I have a chipped up dkmg body that I'm thinking about smoothing out and painting using some cans.

Sorry guys for the late responses.

moku - The paint colour is a mixture of pearl black and grey (The black coats were applied first and left to dry, The grey coats were applied afterwards and manipulated with plastic film to leave a marbalized effect). It is PPG automotive paint for cars. It was sprayed in a booth with a spray gun.

metalmania408 - I removed the paint with 80grit sandpaper using a sander and sanding block. I could of used a harsher grit but from past experience it leaves too many grooves in the paint. The paint was completley taken off and the wood was primered and sanded twice before the colour and clear coats.
