  • DiMarzios in Rhoads Pro - stock?

    Hey folks.
I just have my buds late rhoads pro at home for taking some care of the setup.
Having a look at the electronics I was surprised there was a Made in USA DiMarzio plate under the jackson-covered PUs.
The bridge one says DP102, the neck one has DP160 witten on it.
Does this equal the X2N and Norton models?

Even though I shot this one for him on ebay couple of years ago, I didn't know much about the pros except they're great players.

It says "Professional" on the headstock and "Rhoads STD" on the truss rod cover.
This would make it a student or standart?
    Serielnumber is J401573.

Are these PUs stock or have they been replaced?
Just beeing curious. Nice guitar anyway...

They were probably originally Jackson pickups. The covers are usually held on with glue or 2 sided tape, so whoever changed the pickups out probably just stuck the covers on to the Dimarzios.

Yes, that's what I thought. I like this look myself.
So you think the DiMarzios are after market?

Did Jackson ever use DiMarzios at all?
I know it's Duncans all over the place and some EMGs lately...

I'm pretty sure DiMarzios hidden under Jackson covers aren't original.

        Sure. Custom Orders.

I'm pretty sure some SoCal's got DiMarzios. Technically not a "Jackson" but oh well.

I don't believe DiMarzios were ever a stock option for RR Pros. They came with a J-50B&N and a JE-1200 mid boost.

                Ok, I'll edumacate you micha

RR Profesional = Made in Japan.
Made in Japan = Not USA Custom.
Not USA Custom = No Custom Pickup Choices
No Custom Pickup Choices = Standard Jackson Pickups with covers.

                      '94 Standard, J50s&JE1200 got swapped.
                      Thank you guys!

@Don: thanks for making it even more... well obvious.
My last post wasn't meant as another request for help from our captain, I was just trying to communicate that the information you provided above was somehow both:
Quite offensive as far as trying to show me up goes, and worthless, since even I do know the custom shop will put almoust any kind of hardware into your guitar you want.

Did Jackson use own branded PUs only in the 90s? Was that your point?
I don't own a USA or high line MIJ from that era, but todays come with Duncans and the Jackson PUs are mostly for the lower lines.
So much about Not Custom=Jackson PUs.
And the fact they use Duncans today doesn't really mean to me it has been that way all the time.
                      What's your point?

Did the guitar still have the JE-1200 in it?

                          micha,

                          You asked this question:

No, those pickups are not the stock pickups. The stock pickups were replaced by DiMarzios.

Yes, thanks, that's pretty much what post #6 said as well, but anyway...

                            I wanted to apologize.
I guess I was over-reacting a bit in my post above, must have had a bad day.
                            No harm meant.
