  • Anyone have an idea what jackson calls this color?

1994 according to the serial #. But I have the 1993-4 catalog, but the color is not there.
Henrik's site has the same catalogs I do.
Buyers like to know the color as Jackson called it....

Yeh, that was my thought. Not being A color Jackson seemed to have offered, made the catalog scans worthless for this issue. Thanks!
      Flame less Cherryburst!

I remember they had a cherry burst, violet burst, and green burst. The violet was the only one I sold a few of that year. Sold a ton of Dinky Reverses in those years. I bought 4 myself.

Sure, but this beast does not have A trans top. no flame, just color:think: I thought the "bursts" were transparent flame or quilt.
kinda weird the catalog does not show this color....
mabee if I roll A big fattie....
won't help my color confucktion, but I;ll feel better

Look at the orange center of the guitar. You see those wavy transitions in the finish as it goes out to the edges. Thats supposed to be a figured top. But in real life it was a crappy thin veneer of maple with little dynamic over basswood. I remember them well. They weren't very consistent with those tops for that model.
I had to blow out that color because the figure barely showed at all. Plus it was there worse selling color out of that model. Hell, that was the shortest lived of the Dinky Reverses I believe.
They came out in 93 or 94. Plus if you have no numbers on your neck plate you may have a factory second.
I looked at the pics and I could see it.

I have numbers on the neck plate.. .http://s1131.photobucket.com/albums/...t=dinky031.jpg I bought it brand new. none of the bluebooks or god henriks' site {audiozoneDK} list or show this color. I guess it could be A craply done burst....
the blue book says anything with a burst was called A Dinky Reverse Trans. similar to Dinky reverse, except has A poplar body, flame maple top. availible in Black, natural green sunburst, natural purple sunburst, natural red sunburst or trans blue finishes. mfg. 1994-2001.
so I have A shit color? so bad the catalogs did even show it? uncool. I got an email from someone that works for Jackson...or so they say...they say it is A stone finish called "agate".....

Dude, after closely studying the photos, http://s1131.photobucket.com/albums/m541/kramer8383/
you can see this body is not capped, as the "Dinky Reverse Trans" (DR3 in later years) was. They are flame maple over poplar. this body has minimal transparency which is clearly basswood. As A 1994" Dinky Reverse " ( DR5 in later years) would have! Basswood is great wood, but not for AAA tops. this is actually A unique color, as it is not listed in any catalog, or blue book. It looks good on that guitar! It is not made to be A transparent finish.

Not every color or guitar model was listed in a catalog. I've got a '94 Dinky HX (only about 100 made that year according to Kevin Easton) that was never in a Jackson catalog, but it was in a Venneman's Music Emporium catalog where I bought it from back in '94.

I think Henrik should add a new webpage: Jackson Oddballs

kramer's weird Dinky & Toejam's infamous HX could be the stars!

Very good observations. And I should add the quilted trans tops were, and still are, maple capped poplar.
Does not seem to matter...knowing the original color, this dinky rev, like my RVS do not bring much on flea bay!
