I haven't bought a Jackson for a while, then this came up locally for £300 with Duncan Blackouts and a hard case. That's a fuckin' bargain I couldn't pass up since I've been GASsing for another V type guitar since seeing the Jeff Waters guitar clinic a wee while back.
I love it, it looks much better than I hoped and the sustain is fucking incredible! Can't wait to try it with the band.

Cheers guys, I'm not sure how the Blackouts sound yet. I've only been playing it into the computer so far, through headphones. Tomorrow I'm taking it to the studio so will get a better idea then.

Nice. I had one for a bit but it would have needed an LCP because of issues with dead spots/fretting out. If you decide to keep the blackouts (I love them in my Model 5) you may want to look into getting a battery box routed into the back to save the pain of unscrewing the jackplate every time you need to change it out.

It's only 3 screws, I don't mind that, I'm always fucking about with my guitars changing pickups and shit.
I've had Blackouts before, in an RR3 but I never gelled with that guitar - it sounded bad no matter which pickups I tried in it and....a bolt on Rhoads or V just isn't right.

I used it today at the studio, although it was just me and the drummer. I was very very happy with how tight and heavy this sounds, it's just about perfect in every way! The neck pickup isn't as creamy as I'd like, I may try modding the controls so the master tone control only affects the neck pickup, I did that on a Hamer and it's a great mod if you like an extra creamy neck sound.

Reckon you got a bargain there. There was a Kevin Bond on fleabay I was watching - went for £300 too....must be time of the month. That was a fair bit more nicked up than that though, it looks mint.

If you wanna make a profit you can always sell it to me for £320.

Haha nah I'll hang onto it for a bit mate I fuckin love it! It's not mint, it has the usual dings on each horn and the tip of the headstock and the gold plate is worn to near silver now but I don't mind any of that, it's a well loved guitar.
The thing that gets me is RR3s used seem to go for between £200-£300 (I sold my own last year without any case for £250) yet you can pick up what I would say is a VASTLY superior guitar like the RR5 for nearly the same price. Crazy!
