  • 06 dk2 info

    Hey guys,

I'm new to the Jackson world and need a little info. I'm looking for another guitar to add to my rg1570 and so far haven't come up with anything I've bonded with. Had a prs se and sold it and I'm currently selling my Fender lite ash special. I want something on par with the quality of my RG. Based on my search of this forum and others the dk2 seems to be a decent axe. I'm not concerned about pickup, finish, or trem comparison but the actual quality of the fret work. Everything else is either subjective or can be replaced.

I have the opportunity to pick up what I believe to be an 06 dk2 (blue swirl and chrome hardware) that has been stored for most of it's life and could probably pick it up for a little over 300. Any thoughts from the experienced? I can hold out for a dozen other guitars but if I should jump on this based on your opinions, I probably will.

    Thanks

    Thanks

The DK2 line are solid guitars. All of the ones that I have played had good fret work. I prefer the DK2M with the maple fingerboard and black sharkfins. If the guitar is in great shape, $300 is a pretty fair price.

Is there any difference between 05 and 06 models?

My name is not Johnny () but if you are into Ibanez, why not get an RG1550?

I'm just saying if you are picky for a certain brand, you migh not be happy unless you stick with it.

DK2's are good, but if you was a real good comparison, try a DK1.

I like the ibby neck but would like something a little different just to have some variety. My budget is around 800 so MIA is out of reach unless I found a deal for used.

You could always change your name

There was a hardware upgrade and electronics were upgraded too. The older ones had chrome hardware and Duncan Designed pickups. The newer ones had black hardware and real Seymour Duncan pickups.

ok. Then it's an 05 and not an 06. Thanks.

Serial Number is 9694xxx. Look like a '96 based on that.

Thanks for the help. I had found a chart that let me to believe it was older.

That parts very wrong. It started in 96 but the first 2 digits don't change by year. Ron keeps a data base and can estimate when it was made.
