  • Jackson PRO ID help?

I am being offered this guitar in a trade. It LOOKS like an early '90s Soloist Pro to my untrained eye, but since I don't have any details outside of this picture yet (the person who offered it is slow to respond to my emails) I thought I'd ask the ID experts here. I have no serial number or even info on whether it is a bolt-on neck or not as of yet.
    EDIT: It's a bolt-on neck, and serial # is 901915.

The only other info I have is the bridge pickup has been replaced with a "DiMarzio high gain Evolution bridge pickup." I have never had any DiMarzio pickups, so I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing either.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm really excited, if this is one of those really good PRO series, I'm definitely making the trade! Thanks!!

I know the case isn't original and is beat to hell, but at least it has one! The guitar looks (from the grainy picture anyway) to be in nice shape.

I'd say it was a Soloist Pro, given the 3 knobs and lack of lower horn scallop the Fusion Pro had (and also the Fusion Pro only had 2 knobs and a mini toggle for the sweeper in the middle).

Not to mention the Ebony board and the apparent lack of a neck joint that you should at least see part of in the pic, and those are definitely MOP inlays, the fake stuff doesnt "pop" like that in pics.

Fusion Pro had ebony and mop, and you can shoot a pic at such an angle as to obscure a bolt-on neck joint.

From my (admittedly brief) research, the Soloist PRO is the only only one I found with 3 knobs (and Newc's comment seems to support that)
Either way, though, this is one of the PRO models that are really high quality instruments, correct?

What was meant by the MOP and Ebony is that it is indeed the "Pro" pro model of whatever it is, and not the the lower "Pro" models that had rosewood and the imitation MOP. As far as the neck joint, it just looks too perfect to be bolt on, even in that shot, plus I can kind of see the finish curve up towards the fretboard just above the neck pup. Also, the back of the headstock is the same color as the body.

That's what I wanted to hear! Twitch, I didn't even notice the hint of color you can see on the reverse of the headstock, good eye!

OK, it's NOT a Soloist PRO. I just got a picture of the back, and it's a bolt-on neck. Serial #901915

Im crying foul, that is NOT the same guitar as above. There is obviously red paint on the back of the HS in the first pic. Id seriously want to see this guitar in person first before Id trade. Too many questions, and in my opinion, shit isnt adding up. Besides that, wheres the bridge for this guitar. The second pic has no trem claw or springs, why?? Im really thinking if this is some kind of online deal, youre getting scammed.

In addition, the DK bodies top cut away seem to consistently go to the 19th fret, where the guitar in the first pic goes back up to the 18th reducing the angle between the neck and the cut away making a smooth transition, where as the bolt on have a harsh, not smooth transition form neck to cut away.

OK, he said the trem and strings are off right now for cleaning.
What I think happened was he "borrowed" that first pic of the Soloist PRO.
I don't think I am being scammed. This will be an in-person deal if we work it out.
What he actually is offering me looks like it is a Fusion (I think.) Not sure if it's a PRO still or not. (Anyone know for sure from these crummy pics?)

What's the value of this guitar? I knew roughly for the Soloist PRO, but have zero knowledge of Fusions.
I asked him for a pic of the headstock and he says will get me one when he gets back home.
For now, here's a shot of the front:

                          Yep... that's a Fusion Pro.
The bridge looks kinda fucked though. Hard to tell from the blurry pic, but something doesn't look right with those saddles.

Does that serial indicate it is a 1990 Fusion PRO?
This would still be bound ebony fretboard, Schaller-made JT-590 trem, real MOP sharkies and logo, and excellent build quality then correct?

Glad were getting to the bottom of this. Nice catch on the JCF thread, I tried stealing the URL for the first pic and came up with a PB account and a different one for the second pic. Nailing it to a "borrowed" pic from here was some smooth detective work. Also proved my case about the first pic FOR SURE being a Soloist. Ive been spending way too much time around here for sure when I can nail small details like cut away depth and shape to ID a pic of such poor detail.

If the axe the guy actually has, has Ebony and MOP, then it IS the Pro pro.
