Hi, I have a JDR-94 Neck (the body went through some extremely unpleasant times and is useless) - I've been looking on the bay for a new body, are there any issues that I have to keep on mind when buying a Jackson DK body in regards of compatibility? I love the profile of the neck btw., it's amazing.

JDR-94 Neck - what body?

I'd probably look for a Performer body if not another Concept, assuming you are using the original JDR-94 trem and locking nut. My experience has been that the neck pocket fit is usually less of an issue than what locking nut is right for the particular trem equipped on the replacement body. I had a hell of a time getting the right nut/trem combination when I replaced the neck on a `90s DR-3 with one from a Dinky RVS (missing the locking nut) built the year before - the locking nut from the DR-3 was too tall to work with the DR-3 trem because the nut slot on the RVS neck wasn't as deep. Obviously, this was resolved with some routing work, but was something I'd never thought about.
Considering that the JDR-94 would have had a "full-depth" JT-500 trem rather than the current low-profile JT580LP, the best fit would probably be a recent DX10 body that came with the JT-500 trem. Otherwise, a JDR-94 or PS-4 body would be the "sure thing" unless you're trying to find something a little different.

I think that most of the dinky bodies out there will work fine with that neck. Assuming that you do have the nut that goes with the neck your biggest obstacle will be neck pocket width. 99% of Jackson stuff has the 2.25 neck pocket width but there are a few exceptions. Im not sure where the jdr falls into that. I would steer clear of the MII cedro bodies as I have found a few of those have a 2 3/16 neck pocket. Also Im not so sure that all performers have the 2.25 neck pocket either. I had a ps4 neck with the 2 3/16 heel. I would measure yours to be sure. Its a small difference so dont measure with the tapes end. start at the 1" mark.

And IIRC the JDR-94 was 22 fret. Most other Dinky-types were 24 fret. You'll have noticeable intonation issues if you try to put a 22 fret on a 24 fret.
If you can't find a 22 fret DK body, then your other options are Charvel Model bodies, RR3, and KV3.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Ah that's it. Thanks. Thought it sounded funny. I've got a JSX-94 body around here somewhere. Can't remember what I did with the neckI want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Im actually pickin up a jdr neck for my dx10d body. It has the takeuchi 580lp and I dont think it matters. Although the 500 is full depth the 580lp isnt as thick so it should be fine. I know ive swapped a jdr neck onto a ke3 and a ps6t without issues

@ Inazone - I had a similar height issue replacing the locking nut on my 89 MIJ KE3R with 580LP Takeuichi, in the end I went for a genuine Floyd nut and used Ibanez shims to raise it to the desired level- that way I had total control over the nut height without having to take a mini router to my beloved neck!
as for the 580LP, it shouldn't be an issue, the only possibility would be that the original post mounts are not deep enough, and thus wont allow the action to go as low as required, in which case carefully removing the post mounts and re-drilling to a slightly deeper level before re-inserting them (i would advise new post mounts to be honest) would fully resolve the matter! ;£"If I'm in A-B and your in E-e on the 3rd fret, little string, while I'm back here, on the 7th fret big A... are we in tune?"
