  • rr24's not having tilt neck/body?

I have two of them (a black/yellow and a white/black maple) and neither have tilted necks. it's a bit uncomfortable especially compared a guitar that has them (pretty much every other guitar)

Is this why Jackson sold them for half price for a bit?

No, there is no neck tilt as the bridge is recessed (floyd rose)

If it was a non-recessed floyd or a tune-o-matic then the neck would be tilted back like a les-paul

Care to enlighten us? I can't think of any guitar with a recessed Floyd that's got a tilted neck.

I agree non tilts are especially uncomfortable. My SL3 is non tilted. In fact, as said all recessed floyds are non tilted / shimmed / pocket angled.

Yeah but what do you know? You go on about 'blues rock chatter' and can't play double-stops on a guitar with a Floyd.
It's all about the blues-rock chatter.

Well i have a few Dimas pieces with floyds that have 4 degree angle but they are all top mounts. the kahlers also have angled neck but who has some late 80's to mid 90's ontarios? i only have U0030 Rhoads but cant remember if the necks angled.

            An interesting topic indeed

I'm pretty sure Jackson didn't use non-angled necks on the neckthrus until 1990. I don't recall seeing any '80s neckthru Jackson without a neck angle. Of course, very few TOM Jacksons were made after the early-period Rhoads, and Jackson changed the designs to non-angled necks in 1990 so that they could recess the Floyds, which had become a desirable feature by then due the popularity of the Ibanez JEM and RG. Recessing the TOM is just a cheapshit way of doing it so that they can use the same neck blanks.

Sorry for my ignorance, My buddy said he was certain (but haven't spoke with him since) that his jackson stars and rr1 had a tilted body that most comfortable. And I've only recently played hard tails that had tilted bodies.

                Thanks guys.

I've never even thought about this until I read this thread. I find my SL3 to be incredibly comfortable to play, and so are all my other guitars be they Les Pauls or whatever. I always find it weird when people say they find things like this "uncomfortable" or that they can't switch between a strat and a Les Paul or whatever.

Is this thread influenced by the double bends on floyds thread?

They say that the vol pots on tilted neck guitars go up to 11. Certainly, I know for a fact that neck angles over 2 or 3 degrees sustain more and are more resonant! I think it is something to do with how the sound waves are refracted when they hit the thru neck wood.

Currently I'm working on a 90 degree neck angled guitar, which I think will be the next big thing. It will be built for the ultimate comfort and be so easy to play as you will be able to play it with your hands by your sides, instead of in front of you.

Regarding that post, it was a good one. I am just surprised he completely ignored me and went out and bought an RR1.

Still can't beat a Tom Bridge or a top mount Floyd for comfort though!

                        What about an old Kahler?

Check out 006's comments - think I have found an allie! I sound like a stratched record with you guys and am beating my head against a wall.

Ultimately I am thinking that, taking the refraction of sound waves science to the extreme, the best neck angle may even be 360 degrees. Wow, just imagine a neck set at 360 degrees! Not 2, not 3, not 4, not 90 but a whole 360 degrees of sustain and playability!

Hell, why not even set a neck at 720 degrees...I just can't even bend my mind to imagine the monster tone from that one! Think about it! A whole 720 degrees more than your average recessed floyd guitar! It would blow you away!
