Body is polished. I'd give my finish job a 9/10, as I had to do it by hand since I don't have an electric buffer on hand (I'm finishing this up at school). I'm heading home next week, but as you all know there is no way in hell I could wait a week to put this thing together, so I'll redo the final buff at some point in the future:
You can see there are still some very fine sanding scratches (to be removed later):
The electronics cavity cover was not to my liking (scratched, cheap plastic) so I made another with some pickguard material I had lying around:
I had to route some wood for the new volume pot placement. The cavity already had shielding paint, so I just added shielding tape to the exposed wood:
Why? Because I can of course!
Shrink tube those wires back like a pro
I got the +/-10% CTS pot (500k) from StewMac, and let me just say that this is the coolest piece of hardware ever. I had never used one before, and the volume range is amazing. Normally, you don't get an actual change in volume until you almost hit zero (or I guess 1 on your knob). But with this sucker, the volume decreases at a pretty linear rate, the way it should be. I will be putting this in ALL of my guitars, no quesiton.
I love the 1 pickup-1 volume setup, beautiful in its simplicity:
I finally got to bring out the foam!
I can't remember if this is the plate that came with my DXMG, or if this is the one I got off the bay. Either way, SN starts with a 9 so it's project-appropriate:

Lucifarion, I think the 36th Ann. is a great pup, I love the tone, especially combined with that CTS pot (I'm still obsessed with that haha!). The thing to keep in mind, it is considered "vintage output," meaning it's pretty low gain. I know for metal it's usually the higher output the better, so it might not be ideal depending on what you play. I'll post a clip soon so you can check out how it sounds
