Having picked up a DK2M (my second, the first sold long ago and much-missed) and a DXMGT within the last couple months, I have remembered why I once loved MIJ Jackson, Charvel and Ibanez guitars. So now I'm keeping my eye out and find a matte black SLSMG with Seymour Duncan Blackouts installed, a few cosmetic issues but a GREAT player, for $325 at a local shop. Holy cow! This is without doubt one of the best, most comfortable, best sounding guitars I've ever played; fantastic fretwork, wonderful neck. I'm just knocked out, and amazed that this much guitar can be had for that sort of money. I'm guessing I did OK, but I have to admit; if I paid too much, I'm still happy. It's THAT kind of guitar, if you know what I mean. Larry

I had a matte black slsmg. I had emgs in it. The ebony fretboard was sweet, but it seemed to have a dead fret. I sold it. They do scratch easy. Can't beat that price though.2011 Godin Summit CT

Well, I'm loving this thing. I'm just curious, though-has anyone every attempted to fully polish the satin Jackson finish? This one has several 'shiny' spots from play wear, and I'm thinking it might look better fully polished rather than sort of 'blotchy.' (I don't generally care about how my guitars look-this must be love!)
Thanks,
Larry

If you use an electric car polisher and use the swirl remover from 3M or Meguire's you can get a faily acceptable gloss finish that should match your worn spots. It makes a bit of a mess so will want to remove the electronics or tape them up really good. I would recommend taking it apart though, you can focus on working the finish over instead of worrying about slipping and jacking up a pup, switch or the bridge. I polish my project guitars this way and it works pretty well! Post some pics!"Rule number one: In my van, it's Rush. All Rush, all the time. No exceptions. I think its a great deal. A set of blackouts could cost close to $200 so if you look at it as $120-$150 for the guitar plus the pickups its practically a steal. But like dvscool said, if you love it and cant stop playin it, you definitely scored.
