I had a friend with an RR3 and he LOVED the JB in it. I gave him a custom to try in it and afterwards he just gave me money for it and then went and put them in the rest of his guitars.

I have those in my RR3 and they are good (not great for me). I think it really depends what you play.

Hope you're right- I ordered my CS Star with a custom in the bridge...

Really? I would think Evan Skopp knows more than you do, so...if I said it twice and you corrected me twice, maybe you need to check your facts first before correcting people.

I don't know who Evan Skopp is, but regardless, I'll still go with what Duncans own product description says. I do not follow the same logic however, concerning Jacksons site

If you end up not liking the Custom let me know. We might be able to work out a swap or something. However, the chances of you not liking it are very low I believe.

No, apparently you don't know shit.

A simple Google search would have shown you who Evan Skopp was, as it would have shown you the deal with the pickup you wanted to correct me on. Twice.

Well, I learned something. Maybe Sir Evan Skopp should fix his site. Also, to avoid spreading misinformation, as I mistakenly accused you of, you shouldn't have waited til the 2nd time to clarify. Who am I? Just a guy surfing the Duncan page, assuming it's correct.

I never even saw the first time you "corrected" me.

I play a bit of everything, but when I play my RR3 I use it for Power Metal, Thrash Metal, Death Metal, and Black Metal. I do like EMGs but they sound pretty much the same in any set up. I've heard Duncan Blackouts are better, as more of the tonal properties of the guitar can be heard and they have more clarity than EMGs. I dunno if I'd go active in an originally passive guitar because I cba installing a battery. Lol. But I'm not ruling it out. :P

If the pups are a tad muddy..adjust your amp a tad.

I've tried that and it's still too muddy, the rest of my guitars don't do that with the same settings, just my RR3, which is why I wanna change the pups

Blackouts are awesome, im about to get a second set for my kelly. However, beware, with my amp cleaned up as much as it can be, ive got a 70's rock tone.
I'm going to give you the keys to the Lamborghini

Maybe try a 1meg pot kit before a pickup swap. Pickups are very subjective as are resistance values. I personally love the Duncan Custom in many guitars, also the JB in some. I have blackouts, EMG's; Dimarzio this, Duncan that, greasy garlic bbq'd tone etc.
One can go broke with the right pickup search. They also make pickups where you can vary the eq and output of each pole. I have one around here somewhere but forget the make offhand. (haven't used it in awhile)
