You know, I was *really* hoping to finally hunt down a Charvel Pro Mod this summer with some cash I have hanging about but I think that idea might be on hold, again.

If these things come in Kawasabi green I can see myself buying one purely for the whole ridiculousness of it. And when I say ridiculous I mean, ridiculously suited to the specifications I would like. The only ting missing would be "MIJ" but hey, it's a new world and the X Series is getting good reviews, might as well dive in completely rather than just dip the toe in the water.

Where do I send emails to to plead for a Kawasabi green one then?

I emailed them about a release date but I haven't gotten a response. I heard someone at SSO got a reply and the rep was unaware of the dates. At any rate I'm saving the money I was going to put towards a different 7 in hopes to keep my lineup Jackson only : )

EDIT: I got a reply, apparently we can look forward to these being shipped by the end of the summer.

I saw that. However, no other dealers I've talked to have them yet. I think that random dude from Idaho that's selling them got the B stock ones or prototypes from before they fixed the pickup position. Someone on sevenstring.org that claimed to work for Jackson said that they would be fixed in production and shortly thereafter new pics showed up on the Jackson website with the fixed pickup positioning.

I would relax until some bigger retailers start stocking them and the reviews come in.

The 26.5 is a deal breaker.

You guys are all high. The Jackson pointy looks best with 7 strings if it's reversed. Just look at any of the CS COW7s. They all look pretty amazing.

The scale length is the issue with most of these.

Reverse headstocks always look awesome! In this case though, the SLS headstock works, plus i think it was a deliberate move to attract more potential customers who would otherwise be too pussied-out to play a guitar with a pointy headstock.

I don't know why you're all weirded out by the scale length, it seems like a comfortable medium between a standard Strat scale length and baritone, which probably should be a bit more comfortable to play on.

The 26.5 scale length for the 7 strings is a nice idea and I like it. I used to have a Schecter C7 Blackjack with a 26.5 scale length and it sounded great. The only reason I ditched it was the body shape was a bit of a struggle for me. The only reason I had it was because Jackson didn't have a 7 string I wanted to buy at the time.

These new axes fix both of those problems

The pics on Jackson site show the fixed versions. Some dealers might have some of the originals floating around possibly, can't be too many, but every indication from Jackson is it has been fixed.

I cant see any difference on the jackson site, the problem is on the hardtail ones... too much space... I really dont know if this affects the sound for bad. the ones with floating trem looks just fine.

I think only the very first batch have that spacing between the bridge and pickup. A guy on sevenstring.org bought one and the spacing was correct.

I think it just looks that way - a floyd has a lot more bridge left beyond the saddles making it look closer to the bridge pickup when it's not. The distance from the saddles is what matters.
