  • Hey Guys! New member and serial number query ?

I bought a used Jackson @ Guitar Center in Dallas around 1993 I believe. The receipt says " Soloist Prototype ". The serial number is C000005 .Does anyone know what kind of guitar this is or what it might be worth? From my research it looks a lot like an " Arch Top Tremolo " from this catalog .In fact, it looks EXACTLY like the guitar below, but the serial numbers don't match Jackson's historical facts.

    Any and all help appreciated!

      I'd say $400

The C was used for charvel imports:think:.

          Low serial, probably a 750xl

            According to Henricks site, http://audiozone.dk/index-filer/char...0xl-guitar.htm
The serializing for Charvels went from C806075 in '88 (earliest record) to C000358 in '90 as the latest one reported. So, C000005 would have been a '90, and possibly one of the last ones produced before the transition to Jackson soloists.

We need pictures. If it has Jackson on the headstock and a C serial number I'm inclined to believe it's either a 750XL -OR- more likely and AT-Pro.

Mike (Model 88) has documented oddities with serial numbers as this axes family evolved from Charvel to Jackson.

Sorry everyone, I've been trying to post this pic all day!
I really appreciate everybody's info thus far.
I just don't have an easy way to post actual pics.
( guess I need a photo host domain?)

Anyway, it IS a Jackson logo and it is mother of pearl.

When I phoned Jackson many years ago,
they mentioned that it "MAY have been a Jackson prototype,
but too expensive for mass production( as a Jackson) ..."

                  And

" if that was the case , it may have been released as a Charvel instead"

                  So...

THAT is why I am STILL confused to this day..

Exactly what I thought - an early AT-Pro with a Charvel serial number.

You know, I've never had any idea that it wasn't a neck-thru?!?
The finish is so dark at the heel of the neck that you can't really tell there's a seam.
I've never even heard of a set-neck Jackson...

It plays as smooth and even as any Les Paul I've ever owned though..
so I guess that explains THAT character trait!

Is the previous estimate on it re-sell value still hold true?
                            (400.00 + range ? )

                            baby boy.....
