First,
I have a DX10D (maybe FS model) (dated in the neck pocket 2001) with a JT-580LP and a EMG 81TW in the bridge and a EMG 89R in the neck. When I disassembled the guitar, I noticed that the name in the neck pocket says DX10DFS The previous owner gouged out the rear of the trem cavity on the top of the guitar to install a OFR and D-Tuna. He also either tried to drill 2 new holes, 1 for a 3 way selector, and 1 for a kill switch. The body otherwise is flawless. I can't stand the carve out on the trem cavity and want to fix it, but know that the translucent flamed finish will have to go and I'll have to go to a solid color. My question is whether to actually fix it or leave it as is, and if I fix it, would it be best to use epoxy for the holes and the carved out trem cavity? BTW, I added the chromed metal pickup rings. I swear by them now! I am going to put these on all my guitars!
Here is a pic of my Jackson DX10D(maybe a Firestorm?)..
You can see in this pic how gouged out the trem cavity is.
